The inside of the basket is chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. I rolled and weaved the fondant by hand in a basketweave pattern. It took a long time! My mother in law had to come over and watch my 6 mo. old because mommy was rolling fondant all day! HA

Thanks! yeah this was my first real try at gum paste. I would really like to do more. Maybe get some good tools. The ones I used were kind of a pain. A wooden roller that the gum paste would constantly get stuck to, etc. If anyone has some good suggestions on their favorite tools, let me know!

8O :o this is so beautiful! Your flowers are perfect! Any particular class or book/video you used to learn how to do flowers like that? I make gp roses, but not completely happy w/ them yet? :)

awww.. you guys are too sweet. It definitely had flaws, trust me. Ive never taken a class or gotten someone's book. I actually found my old Wilton gum paste kit from almost 10 years ago and got an itch to use it. I am now looking out for a DVD or class I can take (and get some new tools). I followed the directions of some of the Wilton flowers and I dont know if I wasnt getting it or what, but they werent looking too good. I kinda improvised and did what I felt was right for me. Im glad you like ...

The link in the comment above didn't take. Get the pasta machine sheeter attachment for your KitchenAid for your gumpaste flowers. 8)
