My Daughter's Birthday Cake

My Daughter's Birthday Cake on Cake Central

This is my 5th attempt at a fondant covered cake. I think I'm slowly getting the hang of this. This is my first attempt at piping an icing tiara though. I had great fun with it. I made this for my daughter's 12th birthday - she thought it was a real pillow with a tiara when she first saw it - so did everyone else, including the adults. Once they found out that the pillow was a cake, they still thought the tiara was an real tiara. LOL

Thankyou SO much for your kind comments! :) I used a template that I found in the Sketches, Patterns and Templates gallery supplied by 'spottydog' (here is the URL for it (...) ). I just adjusted it slightly.

What a beautiful cake! I haven't done asculpted cake so far, but now I will try. If you have any tips or suggestions on achieving that beautiful shape and shine they would be soooo appreciated :) :)

Goodness, I would be dangerous if I read directions... I just saw the tutorial on making the pillow cake and it explains it perfectly. I don't have the guts yet to attempt something like that tiara, it is perfection! :D

"Wow!" is right! That tiara is awesome! I thought it was one of those adorable ones from the toy department. How did you do those pink jewels???

The pink jewels are unfortunately the only part of the tiara that was not edible - I did tell them before they started munching away at the tiara. I used plastic jewels I got at the craft store opposed to glass rhinestones.

wow gorgeous! how did you make it look beaded? Is it royal icing and you just piped dots? Did you spray it with pearl dust or anything? It's wonderful! Please PM me with details :)
