In community album: Groom's Cakes
The groom likes bamboo and pandas, so this is what we came up with. The pandas are mmf. The bamboo is silk. 14" and 10" choc w/ mocha mousse and almond bc. Choc shavings on top. This was the hit cake of the night. Though they loved the wedding cake too, they were absolutely blown over by this one. Fun and easy to do this one!

Critique Subgroup Member: After seening the Wedding cake then this one, I don't know what to say. This cake is just as fabulous! I like the use of , I think, cereal straws and the shaved chocolate. I'm not a big fan of non-edible decorations, but they have their place! The pandas are so cute and placed perfectly! It's no wonder this cake was a hit!.Oh yeah, I adore the way you matched the bases on both cakes!

Thank you for the compliments. :) I'm not sure what cereal straws are? These are Pirouette cookies. Are they the same thing?

critique subgroup member: another awesome cake! I am not a big fan of this cake stand with this cake, though I know you were matching the wedding cake, I don't think it goes with the panda theme and seems a bit small for the cake

critique group member: I am so surprise this was part of the the other wedding cake! This is my style  I do not know how you got those cookies to stay...they look very nice without any type of bow on them. The pandas are adorable and in the perfect spot...and I have to say this cake is very well proportioned! Really nice work!

I just piped some icing onto the back of the cookies and a little underneath after I made them edge. They also had a little bit of the edge of the stand to rest on. They stuck without any problems on the drive too.

Critique Subgroup Member: Fabulous, fabulous!! I, too, don't like the wedding cake pedestal with this cake, but I understand that you were working toward a matching set. Your pandas are PERFECT and gumpaste bamboo would have taken much too long for this cake. I really love this one!

Critique Subgroup Member: Very attractive. The colors and proportion are, to me, spot on. The pandas are adorable. I like the uneven edges of the cookies - makes it look like natural wood. I would not have put it on the ornate cake stand, but I understand why you did. The silk bamboo looks very lifelike. You really bowled them over for this wedding. Excellent work!

Critique group member: Oh my gosh this is so cute! I love the pandas and the "bamboo" on the sides!

Critique Subgroup Member: ok, I agree that edible bamboo would have been much better than silk. Still, I love this cake!! Pefect use of the Pirouette cookies- it all just fit perfectly together. Your pandas are awesome- I can see why it was such a huge hit!! Great work!!

Critique subgroup member: Wow what a groom’s cake. Bet the group fell all over you. You are very talented you know! Only one thing to look at for the future, the stand does not go with the design. But I’m sure not one guest noticed it though. Wonderful cake! I bet you get a ton of orders because of this!

What a great use of the pirouette cookies, they so look like "bamboo" to me - who woulda thunk?! Your pandas are adorable and I think this is just a terrific groom's--or any other--cake

Critique Subgroup Member: I love your pandas and this is such a great way to bring something they love into their wedding.
