My First Real Attempt At Buttercream...

My First Real Attempt At Buttercream... on Cake Central

Baby shower cake for my cousin- thank goodness it was a gift and nobody had to pay for this ugly thing! Ok, it's not that bad, but I had incidents with crumbs and a bit of sliding during transport. Bottom tier is chocolate with cookies-n-cream mousse, top tier is a white almond cake with french vanilla mousse. (I couldn't think of anything else) Pink butter cream with chocolate butter cream accents... helpful hints will be appreciated! P.S. The stickers for the bottoms of the kisses turned out really cute!

Nice job. Cake looks straight and the fillings sound delish! Definitely more ambitious than I've been. Sure there are a few crumbs but with a little practice, it will be perfect! How did you do the stickers? What did they say?

The stickers were labels printed from the computer, cut out with a 3/4" scrapbooking punch. They said things like "Special Delivery", "Lace and Curls and a New Baby Girl", "Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice", "Baby Davee 06/07/08" her due date, and "Nothing is Sweeter than a Baby". :D

I think if you did a thin layer of white frosting, a crumb layer, then FREEZE the cake for a few until the frosting layer is hard, take it out and frost over it with the pink. As far as transportation goes, other than inserting a dowel rod into such a tall cake, I can't think of a thing.
