Ducks, Turtles And Bears

Ducks, Turtles And Bears on Cake Central

chocolate 1/4 sheet cake with white chocolate almond buttercream. The animals were piped in buttercream. I was running out of time on this one, but if I had it to do over again I would have piped a rim around the turtle shells. Oh well. The purple squares were actually blue when I piped them on and smoothed them. Funny how they completely changed color! I mixed the three colors in one bag and used a grass tip for the fringe. I liked that effect.

very cute great piping job. How did you do all the different colors on there and make it so smooth?? I love the little "squiggles?" for lack of a better word - that you did between each square too. just precious. [email protected]

Thanks guys! I just used one of those impression mats that marks off the top of a cake into squares and then piped in my colors into each square (kind of zigzagged it in). But I made sure that my buttercream was kind of soft. Then I used a sponge dipped in cornstarch to each one at a time. After they were all in, I laid a VIVA paper towel on it and smoothed over it with a fondant smoother.

That is absolutely precious. Love it! I'm impressed by all the different color squares. They are so perfectly done. Love the buttercream animals too!
