Baby Converse All Stars

Baby Converse All Stars on Cake Central

I used Stellastarchilds wonderful picture and template to make these. These are for a baby shower cake for Saturday. The colors are chocolate brown and light sage. The mom and day both played high school and college basketball. The shoes and balls are my surprise.

:D Thanks...I think they're adorable. Obviously I still have to do the laces on the one pair. But, I wanted to post a picture since the site was working!

I'm getting ready to make these too.....I've been holding off hoping to get some written insntructions from stellastarchild....did you do it with no written instructions?? Oh and how did you make the basketballs??

They really weren't too hard (except for the laces, they were tricky). I just cut out the pattern pieces and traced around them to cut out the fondant. I used a round tip to cut out the holes for the laces and a stitching wheel to make the liness. It wasn't hard to see what pieces went where. I just used water on the edges. I had little balls of plastic wrap ready to help hold the shapes. I used a ruler and edible marker for the blue line and hand drew the stars.

Sorry...the basketballs.... :D I just used my hands to shape the balls. I had to keep going back and reshaping them as they hardened, because they want to flatten. Before they were totally hard I used the back of a knife to indent the lines, then used a marker to fill in the black.

Oh, I love these little sneakers sooo much! You did a really great job. Do you have the link to Stellastarchilds template? Love them! :D

I don't think you can post links in the comments, but if you go to the templates and search for converse you'll find the template and the numbered picture.
