After about 1 week I turned the hat over, right side up, and the dried fondant brim came right off. I double sided taped the dried hat brim to a wooden round box I found at AC Moores. then glued that to a cake board.

Hello: I would love to see how you kept that shape, I tried to make one and placed the fondant over a pan and just could not get that shape. the cake is for friday, so I'm very discourraged at this time:(
