In album: fondant-cake
I was given a picture off of the modern Bride website and asked if I could do it. I thought that it looked simple but elegant so I took the job. Boy was I wrong. It took me weeks to figure out how to stamp the letterson it, and it was my 1st attempt with fondant, and stacked construction. The top was their monogrammed initials, the 2nd said Love and laughter, the 3rd said Happily ever after. Oh, and the bow, ended up not being edible, that was a disaster, but I only charged $150. I almost went in the hole.

Well......how did you stamp the letters on it? The colors are beautiful, and so is the cake.

Thanks for the support. I bought the stamps at a scrapbooking store, they were capital on one side and small script on the other. I used wilton brush on icing blue and purple to get the periwinkle, brushed it on my stamps, and stamped them on one at a time, hoping they were joining the one beside it. I started in the middle of the phrase so that I was sure that was the center of the cake. Thanks for the supportive comments.

OK, time to fess up, the fondant credit goes to my hubby. Don't tell his friends on the construction site. He finished drywall, so he's got the art of smoothing down pat. To answer the question about will this only work on fondant, I don't know I haven't tried it on buttercream, it's possible it would run, if you try it I'd love to know and see pics. I've thought of it, but haven't tried it.

wow, I love the look of that cake. The letters are great! They look like you rolled them into the fondant. Very nice job!

Thanks, I just stamped them on and then went over them in the lighter places with a brush.

Then for curiosity sake, do you know where the embossed stamps that they used came from? And thanks for the kind comment.

I don't remember...I actually e-mailed the company and they never replied. The cake is still up on brides.com and it gives the supplier name...stamps something...let me know if you are successfull at reaching them.
