Gift To A Brother

Gift To A Brother on Cake Central

New to group and wanted to share a pic. Been doing cake decorating since May 05 and really enjoy it. Getting a lot a lip from other guys in the office cause I'm decorating. Oh Well.....

This cake was made for my brother on his wedding day. 3 tiered square cake. Bottom was chocolate, middle was white and top lemon.. covered in vanilla buttercream with royal icing roses.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is beautiful!!!! I learned how to make roses a year ago and they look nothing like yours. I beleive you have found your calling.

from one man to another...they give you lip...until they need a cake..then you say...ohhh really now? Oh, good looking cake by the way..a real mans cake, big!

I think it is fantastic! How does everyone drizzle the chocolate without it continuing to drizzle down the side? How do you make it stop?

on

Well I think the trick for the drizzels is not to use hot melted chocolate. When I did this cake, I melted the chocolate and then let it cool to room temp. Once cool, I started my drizzel on the edge and the outcome is what you see.

beautiful ! love the drizzle ! sorry to have to ask... did you start at the top edge & it flowed down or did you start in the middle and pull it up (like piping) ?

on

Well I started from the top tier on the very edge. I used a wilton bottle with a slight opening. I would squeeze a nice blog of chocolate and let it drip down.

Cake decorating is for everyone...You have talent! I love this cake...it would even look beautiful with strawberries too!
