Wedding Ring Quilt

Wedding Ring Quilt on Cake Central

Didn't know if I was supposed to post this since I already posted a picture with this in it (my cake show table) but had a few that wanted to see it closer up so thought I'd put it in here. The "wedding rings" were made by my combining a few colors of fondant and rolling them out flat and then cutting it with the smallest Wilton square cutter, and then manually cutting that in fourths. I'm glad I only had to do one tier. haha. Thanks for looking!

Very beautiful and original cake! I love it. I think you did a great job on the blue quilted tiers. How did you get it so perfect? Did you roll the impresson on before putting the fondant on the cake? :D

Thanks! The blue quilting isn't really as perfect as it looks...I used a cutter pattern thing on the sides and rolled it up over the edge, and then went over it with a stitching tool. I wasn't as accurate as I could have been but I guess you have to look close to see it.

This is beautiful! It reminds me of my Grandmother. She used to get together with friends and quilt. She would love this cake. This cake is beautiful. The detail fabulous!

You've inspired an idea!!! My grandmother's birthday is in a few weeks. I wonder if I could copy a pattern onto a cake from one of the quilts she has made me over the years. That would just be kind of special.... :P :P

I bet you could! Go for it! Grandma would love it. (And its easier to do it in fondant than with a sewing machine, trust me!)

I'm so glad you posted a closer shot of this one! I absolutely love it! I don't know if a cake should be comforting but there's something about this one that is...just makes me think of sleeping over at grandma's under a pile of quilts on her bed. Excellent work! (as always!)

Thank you so much! I wanted to get across the feeling of having been able to finally open one's hope chest and cuddle up by the fireside with the man of one's dreams...and his dog of course. haha.
