3D Golden Retriever Cake For My Mom's 60Th
My mom is a golden retriever fanatic. She also owns her own dog grooming business, so it was a no-brainer to figure out what her cake should be. I carved it freehand, iced in buttercream then covered in chocopan fondant and airbrushed. Had some issues covering in 1 piece, so I feathered the edges, hoping they'd look like fur....at any rate, I'm pleased with him, but critiques are always welcome on my pics.....
so cute- i like the dog cakes that are a little more cartoonish- couldn't stand eating one that looked so real! This would look just like Clifford if it were red. It's great :D
Great Job!. Everything about him is just so perfect. I want to learn how to use choco pan, I haven't tried it yet.I can't wait to start doing things like this.Getting ready to open my own retail shop. Then I will have more time.
I've always loved these kind of dog cakes, but whenever I inquire about how the head is done I never get a respose! Your's came out SO cute! Do you mind sharing how the head is done? I just want to know if it's cake are all fondant. I'm a golden fanatic as well (we have one too). I think you did a fantastic job! You are very talented!

that has got to be one of the cutest dog cakes! My only critique would be that the eyes look a little funny - but it adds to his cuteness.. he just sort of looks "shocked" :) It's fabulous though.

Love your feathered fondant solution, it looks perfect. Just about the only thing I'd have considered doing differently would have been a matching cake board but really the dog is so awesome and I am sure your mom loved it just the way it was. Just love his little loose doggy lips!

you did a phenomenal job- the only thing i could possibly critique is that his right ear is a lot fluffier then his left but im sure you know and had a reason for it- fantastic
