I don't choose the themes for these....I just do what is asked if I can. The bottom cake is fruit cake and the top is a sponge with vanilla buttercream filling. The topper can be removed as it is created onto a cake card and attached with royal icing. No people on this one! My goodness! The butterflies are done using Patchwork cutters and I cut the middle out and piped royal icing onto the cake to stick the wings into and so not leaving them flat. A wedding cake with a difference I think!

Caravan and butterflies!

I should have said that the topper is hand modeled with sugarpaste (fondant) but I guess you would already have known that.

You did a great job. what patchwork cutters did you use?

Thank you so much. The Patchwork cutters are butterflies and bees. I think there are some ladybirds in it too but I've only used these so far. They're so pretty though, I may be using them more often.

Lorraine, beautiful as always, I absolutely love the topper!! Tell me how you did the car, Is it all sugarpaste? I have a customer who wants me to do a porsche in all sugarpaste and I just wondered how heavy it would be. Would love some tips on that car!!! Again, fabulous as always!

Thank you again. MissRobin...the car and caravan are purely fondant. I did the markings with a leaf veining tool and painted the windows with silver lustre powder mixed with clear alcohol. I had to leave them to dry. I should have made the wheels and left them to dry for a day too before attaching them but I didn't...so don't make that mistake!
