Pink Castle

Pink Castle on Cake Central

This cake almost had me in tears!! I rolled out the fondant too thin and too much; so when I put it on the cake, it stretched and tore, just a total mess, so, that's the reason for all the grass. Anyway, (4) 8' squares stacked/doweled, covedred in fondant. Towers are Little Debbie Swiss Rolls covered in fondant with fondant turrets.

It may have frustrating but the end result is great! In to my favorites because I am sure I will be using it as inspiration in the future. Love the idea of using the little debbie cakes as turrets. Great idea.

Critique subgroup member: Well first off if you hadn't told me about your issues, I would have thought the grass was meant to be there! It is very well done, I just to care for the boulders, but they do compliment the windows in the turrets. Oh and I think Since you have so much black, the door could have been black also, but that is just me.

Critique subgroup member: Well I love it and I think the addition of the grass is perfect!!!!! The two towers in the back seem to be leaning a bit but the fact that you made them out of Little Debbie Swiss Rolls is GENIUS!!!!!! The whole darn thing is perfect!!!!! Love the rocks btw.

The idea for the swiss rolls actually came from a Debbie Brown book; she uses jelly rolls, which I don't like, so I used the swiss rolls instead!!

critique subgroup member: nice job! I love the texture of the fondant! gives a more realistic look. I think you could have added a bit more of the pink flowers for just a bit more color. Very well done!

Critique subgroup member: your texture looks incredible! The grass not only hid any possible imperfection, but it was a great touch. The two towers in the back are leaning slightly, but overall it's a fantastic cake!

Critique group member:This is so cute! I agree that boulders are kind of out of place, but overall I think any little girl would be excited to get this cake!

That came out really nice! Sorry for all your stress! When I'm at that point, I always remember what my cake instructor said "decorations hide mistakes". I want to make one like that one of these days. The Swiss Rolls are a good idea. Thanks!
