I made this cake for our State Fair, but unfortunately I over-slept, and it didn't get there in time =(

Not a creature was stirring,..... or maybe two

Awww man! And I know you would have won too!!!!!!!!!! What a great looking cake!!! ;-D How did you do the floor? Is it fondant? What did you use to make the color of wood?
cakemommy 9/25/05 at 6:13pm
Oh bummer! This really good!
MoonicaLeigh 9/26/05 at 5:08am
Thanks guys! =o) Trust me a few tears were shed!! The floor is a piece of fondant that I rolled out and cut to a 10in sq. I made a line across every 1/4 inch and then made the "cuts" for the boards length wise. I used the Harry Potter Cauldron Copper color and just painted it on the floor. I let the floor dry for a week so it was a little hardwood floor =o) I got the idea from Food Network Everything is fondant except the mortar on the fireplace, the sides of the bottom cake and the borders.

Girl I am SO sorry! I know how that feels believe me! That sounds so typical of something that would happen to ME. I'll bet the reason you overslept was staying up and making this thing so beautiful! Irony at it's best. Your cake is AMAZING, is it on a real cake or a dummy? If it is a dummy you can hold onto it and enter into something else? If not, take a lot of good pics find the 2 best and enter the wilton contest, it is a winner wherever you put it! If you don't mind I might try to copy this sometime
MoonicaLeigh 9/26/05 at 5:50am
=o) Yes it is a dummy,... however it needs touch ups because I waited 2 days to take these pics and some of the red from the fondant has bled into the gray =( But yes, I was up until 0445AM and overslept my 0645AM alarm LOL Thanks for the idea about the photo contest!!

Well, if it counts for anything it REALLY inspired me and is the first cake I ever saved to my favorites!
