These are gorgeous, that shine is magnificent. Did you use luster dust? And what are the hook at the top made from?

Thanks everyone. The shell was decorated with royal icing, then dry brushed with luster dust, and finally the designs and toppers were painted with luster dust mixed with lemon extract. The tops were hand sculpted out of fondant.

Beautiful! Did you use the mini ball pan to make the chocolate shell?

These look so realistic! I would love to make these this holiday season, but how did you get them to be so round and domed like? Did you stack something on top of the cupcake to give it a dome effect?
    luvbakin 8/23/09 at 7:01pm
The dome on these are made of chocolate. I used a mold I bought off of instawares.com. Poured the chocolate, let it set, then emptied it out. After the shell dried I popped it out of the mold, and then decorated it.

can you tell the name of the mold? I went to instawares but there are thousands of molds listed...tried chocolate, ornament, ball, circle but still hundreds of choices. Thank you.
