Just finished this cake tonight for a birthday party tomorrow - used the Wilton Castle cake set, and it was definitely a bugger to work with, and took longer than I anticipated. Buttercream w/ fondant accents. TFL!
psurrette - so glad that I followed your suggestion, and brought extra supplies with me. Even though I rode in the back with the cake and my husband was super slow and extra gentle on the road - I lost 8 of the 12 towers in route !!!!! I even added the long dowels on the towers in the cake, but it didn't help to anchor them down more securely. Luckily - no major damage whatsoever - you would never have known about the traveling tragedies after I reassembled at the party. :)
nice job! I agree its a buggger to work with. Good luck transporting it! bring some chocolate with you incase you need to glue it
