!st Draft For Show

!st Draft For Show on Cake Central

This is my first attempt at executing my "vision" for an upcoming cake show. I know some changes need to be made to make it "judge worthy." I wanted to practice it so I could make revisions before the show in March. I plan to add watering pouring out the can and make it cleaner overall. Any other suggestions? Also I am a critique subgroup member. TFL

Critique subgroup member: oh i love this one! The only thing I would like to see different is to have the spout on your water can a little more realistic shaped but other then that its perfect and going into my favorites

Critique subgroup member: I love everything about this cake but the hat. It remindes me of tghe cakes with a ball stuck on top and I don't get those either. So It must be me. But if I did it it would be just the hat and the tilted watering can to the side over some fondant flowers. I would add some sort of trim to the watering can and I can't wait to see the liquid! Good job.

Critique Group Member: That is sooo darling! I agree with the other group member's critiques. Since this is for a cake show I would definitley make a unique cake board. My first impression as far as a critique was the hat. I love the idea of it and would like for you to do it in your final cake. It just seems a bit overpowering to the top of the cake. Iâm not sure at the moment what to suggest.

(I ran out of room) The hat would be easier to ruffle if you used a mixture of 50% fondant and 50% gumpaste. What kind of fondant did you use for the hat? Something that also might add to the cake is a white picket fence around it. I canât wait to see your final product. I know it will be GREAT!

Critique Group Member: Wow, Jadak - this is a fantastic design. You already mentioned cleaning it up so no comments on that area. Colors are great; don't know how you got the can so stable; maybe think about adding some bugs on the can to spruce it up (looks a little lonely). Also, can you extend the theme on your final cakeboard? Can't wait to see your blue ribbon!

Critique group member: This is so cute! I love hoe bright and cheery the colors and design are! II agree that woul be nice to see the design carried on to the watering can but other than that is is just fabulous! Well done!

Critique group member: I think your colors are great. The overall design is really good. My only critique is the watering can itself. You already said you plan on cleaning it up, but I think perhaps the spout should be a little thinner. I think it's a little too thick. Can't wait to see the final product!!

Critique Subgroup Member: I agree with the others about the cakeboard. You could make it grass-green and put a few bugs and snails and tiny purple flowers. Your idea is great and this first attempt looks wonderful.

Critique group member: I agree with the others about the watering can and the design- but I think you have a winner- it looks awesome and it looks like the watering can is perfectly level and stable on the top!! I'd be very proud!

on

critique group member: I love this cake--very creative and fresh! I'm not crazy about the watering can only because it doesn't have a traditional spout, which distracts from the other perfect details. The water is going to really make this cake spectacular!

citique subgroup member: Love the color combination, agree with others, the watering can needs a bit of sprucing up. I think the butterfly wings could be a bit thinner for a more delicate look, and maybe a more realistic look to the flowers??

on

critique group member: I think the snails are absolutely adorable and the flowers are nice but could be more "realistic" I guess (I am not good at flowers so that pains me to say). I also think the spout of the canister should be different...maybe thinner, but what a wonderful cake!!!! Once you touch it up on the final cake I think ya got a winner !!! Great job!
