critique subgroup member: Your flowers are very pretty and I like the colors you chose for those. I am not too crazy about the yellow...I think I might have gone with white, but that's just me. I like the rosette border and it looks pretty consistent....maybe a slight variation here and there, but overall nice. The fondant heart is a neat idea....a good place to write and personalize. It looks like your "hole punch" had color on it when you started and two holes look discolored. Nice cake though!

Critique Subgroup Member: Your piping is just about perfect! Your flowers are very prettily done. Your plaque fits nicely also. Color on the two holes issue. The BC is very smooth. Here is my recommendations. The colors together are tough. I would have made a white cake. I think this group is afraid of plain 'ol white - LOL. The yellow is too harsh. It makes your dusty rose and lavendar look dirty. Then are your flowers and your bead border two different colors also? ran out of room...

continued....Try limiting your color palette to three colors. Your primary color, your complimentary color and your accent color. It is a good balance. Get yourself an alpha impression set from Wilton and press the letters into the plaque before appling the plaque to the cake then pipe over the impression. I think you will be pleased then. Or make a "fake" plaque by piping onto the cake and press the letter into the BC and pipe over it. I will send you some samples. Lovely piping!!!!!!!!!

Critique group member: I agree that the yellow is harsh and that white would have been better and also that the two discolored holes look bad. However the rosette border is beautiful and I love your flowers. Well done! :)

critique subgroup member: great cake! your flowers and border are just wonderful. About the yellow- I am not a fan of white mostly because I love working with different colrs. Maybe a more pale tone to your yellow and lighten it up to where it's just a touch of coloring would have worked better, as your other colors are pale and wintery like.

Critique subgroup member: cute design I would think about changing the writing, maybe try it in royal icing next time and maybe a lighter yellow

critique subgroup member: Your flowers are really nice and your swirl border is great!! I am one that notices writing on a cake immediately: yours needs some help. I can't pipe or write a straight letter to save my life, so I use a ruler if I'm printing letters with a marker or I use tappits to cut out the letters -- so I understand the difficulty. You can also print out a message and glue it to your plaque & pipe a boarder around the edge, which looks fabulous when you don't have an edible printer...

Critque Group Member: Overall, the cake is very pretty. As for a critique, my first impression was to lighten the yellow or make it white. The flowers are pretty but groups of uneven numbers compliment each other more than groups of even numbers. Also, give them a slight lift by piping a mound of icing for each flower on the cake and then put the flowers on the mounds. I think the doily looks nice with this cake. It gives it a Victorian feel.
