Art-Deco Style Cake

Art-Deco Style Cake on Cake Central

This is a two tier fondant-covered, stacked cake, based on a design that I saw and loved on the Culpitt website. Each cake is 6" at the widest point and 5" tall. The flowers are gumpaste and are my first attempt at doing a wired spray of flowers.

The dust on the squares (which are embossed with tiny 5 petal flowers, though you can't see it in the pic) is Snow flake lustre dust, by Sugarflair.

Very unique. How would you cut it? What event did you use it for? Your wire flower spray is very, very nice.

This cake is very easy to cut as it is two seperate cakes with a cake board in between (the gap is hidden by the ribbon around the centre). Although the slices are a little taller than average you just cut it like any other square cake; slice down to the board and once the top tier is finished, remove the board and dowels and cut the bottom cake.

There is a central dowel running through the cakes and the middle cake board, which I hammered into the cake drum at the bottom, so it was very sturdy
