Foxy!

Foxy! on Cake Central

Well I finally did it! Carved a FOX. Started with two 9x13 layers and a cupcake made in the mini ball pan. It was fun but so stressful because it was to be displayed at an International Hunter Jumper Association dinner for 1000. Used a sour cream pound cake recipe so it would be sturdy. All buttercream except for MMF/Gumpaste ears and nose. It was the hit of the dinner Only about 40 people were lucky enough to get a slice. P.S. Thanks to several of you CCers for input in helping with this project.

I had not seen your original posting but think your finished product turned out great! I think the one thing the original needed was its eyes adjusted and you NAILED them on the final!

I read your post. Your colors turned out great, also, and the nose nice & shiney like a fox!

I'm happy to see the final project. Much cooler than my squirrel cake, to be sure! You did an awesome job! It must have taken forever to pipe all that fur! You should be really proud!

Wow! Great carving. I love the face and the tail. It came out so good. You can definitely tell its a fox, unlike my wolf. Did you use the rice krispie treat for the nose or is it carved from the pound cake also?

Thanks so much for all the wonderful comments. Coracakes, his ears and nose were actually MMF with a little gumpaste kneaded into it. I tell people that I must not have played with Playdoe much as a kid so now I get to do as a grown-up. LOL

Thanks gang! Robinscakes, yes my hand ached for hours....thank goodness for ibuprophen. Jmcooley, its all cake. The recipe I use is very firm but I did slide two popsicle sticks under the chin, just in cake.
