Harley Davidson Tires

Harley Davidson Tires on Cake Central

This cake was inspired by several I have seen on CC. Loved making it! It is three 8" tiers of cake carved and decorated with fondant and gumpaste. This cake had to have a center dowel attached to the cake base to keep it for really leaning. It is suppose to lean visually, but not structurally. :)

Great job I love this cake!! How did you get the lines so perfect on the tires? I would really love to try this for a friend!

Oh, I free handed the tread. I used my bone gumpaste tool to make six horizontal lines and then made the "greater than" "less than" symbols running vertically. Yes, I have school kids. :) The lines are not perfect. It is an illusion. :P

Thanks so much for the wonderful compliments. :D I do want to say I have learned that when you make a cake like this or any top heavy cake, you really need to secure a central dowel to the cake board and then slide all the cakes down upon it. Make sure you still dowled between the tiers and punch a hole in the cake board before trying to slide the cakes down. I used a masonite board with a 3/4" dowel down the center, that is screwed to the board from the underside and countersunk. :)
