critique subgroup member: so cool! I love the checkerboard design and the music notes! your cd's are well made, too. I see a little uneven areas in the bordering but that's just being picky. Maybe the 'tag' on top should have been a little more straight. The cake rocks! Get it?? :)

Critique group member: The dancers' silhouettes are a great touch, very creative. I think all the elements of the theme work together really well and I'm glad to see you did the checkerboard pattern on the bottom tier - makes the dancing elements of the top the focal point. A little messy on the corners - not sure if those are fondant strips. Great overall cake.

Critique subgroup member: I once did a musical theme cake - hated it. Records are hard to do and making them look cool is difficult. I love your dancers, I like the checkerboard pattern, plaque and the different border. Just not crazy on the dvd's. But that might be left overs from my own. Your corners need a bit of work, but your over all composition is great!

Critique group member: I love the dancers. Very cool touch to the cake. I think the overall presentation is fabulous! There are some areas that need a little help...in the border I see some gaps(top layer right hand side), bc needs to be cleaned up in a few areas (don't ask me how, I can't do it :lol: ).

Thanks everyone. JRAE33, that BC gave me fits. I think I iced and scraped and reiced about 3 times to try and get a decent smooth finish. Maybe it was the weather or the crisco? I don't know. I am no pro, but I usually have a little more luck than that! :lol:

critique subgroup member: Great Idea!! for me this could have been a bit neater. The corners a bit sharper, the fondant notes and plaque to have had a bit cleaner lines, sharper, straighter. Dancers are awesome! I also think that maybe a bright color could have been incorporated to give a little "pop". Overall great cake, again I love the idea!
