New Years 2008

New Years 2008 on Cake Central

Critique group member: 9" WASC w/nutella. Lattice and numbers in RI, cornelli work in silver piping gel (wished I would have used RI as I found the gel difficult ot work with!). Iced in BC. Had a small BC blowout in the front of the cake an hour before the party and smushed it down (why can't blowouts happen in the back?!). Happy 2008 to all!

critique group member. I love the silver on the white and the lattice work is fantastic. My suggestions.. the lace needs to be a bit tighter (hard to do) and the 2008 needs to maybe be filled in solid to make it pop a little more.Fantastic design

Critique Group Member: very elegant, i love the silver and white combo. for all of the trouble you had it still turned out fabulous and your RI lattice is gorgeous

Critique Group Member: wow- just beautiful. Your RI designs are such a wonderful touch and the detail on them are incredible. Piping gel is just such a mess- you did a great job working with it.You incorporated the board into the design perfectly. My only true critique would be that maybe the 2008 should have been a solid color so that it would stand out more and not look a little busy. That's just me though. ;) I love this cake- the design and the colors

Critique subgroup member: This is beautiful! What a lovely design. I like the lattice you added. Very nice. Just again, keep the cornelli small and tight. I only see a few spots of cornelli that have elongated lines but the rest is fantastic.

Critique group member: Absolutely beautiful! :) I love the silver and white combo ! My only critiques are to make the cornelli lace more curvy in spots and I agree with slly that the 2008 would have looked better solid.

Critique Subgroup member: This is stunning and why are you disappointed? Have I told you yet, that I think you crossed the invisible line from decorator to artist? Your cake board is fantastic as are your lattice wings. (They are painful aren't they.) If your writing on the cake then you did it perfectly it is part of the design designed in the same manner and is appropriate to the cake. For your questions, I would have hand painted the RI after piping ....but that is me and it is painful also.....

...ran out of room I'd make more C's and S' for the lace and get it tight but otherwise this cake is awesome!

Critique group member: Very nice. I like how you continued the design down to the cake board, it makes for a very nice presentation. My only thought was that the numbers should have been a solid color to make more of an impact. In my opinion, they are a little too busy as is.

Criique Subgroup Member: What a gorgeous cake. You make it difficult to crique it, so I have to put myself in a very critical mode, which is not my nature. With that in mind, it is difficult to find anything I would change except for the numbers. I agree that they would have made a more dramatic impact if they were solid. Other than that, this is definitely a work of art.

critique subgroup member: This is a very beautiful cake. I love the idea. Great job on the lattice work! Again with the cornelli lace, make it smaller and tighter for a more delicate lacy look. and like tiptop has stated, more c's and s's with no straight lines.
