Hi lisakay--the only instructions I could tell you is that I sculpt freehand and roll out the candyclay like fondant and drape it over the cake. Then proceed like you were working with fondant.

Oh, I also thinned down brown icing color with vodka and used it like paint. And as also a little luster dust goes a long way. :D

The best thing I can tell you it is to carve the cake when it is frozen or slightly thawed. You can cut into the cake and get better detail when it is frozen. I always try to have the object that I am trying to duplicate right in front of me to refer to as much as possible. I hope that helps. :)

I CAN'T THINK OF SOMETHING ELSE TO SAY THAT HASN'T BEEN SAID ALREADY...STUNNING WORK!!! BUT I HAVE A QUESTION. DID YOU START WITH THE BALL PAN OR WAS IT SEVERAL 8-9 CAKES? ;-D
pattyasken 7/15/09 at 6:38am
It was several 8" and 9" -- found it easier to get the shape I which was more rectangularr than round. :D :D
