Basket O' Crispies
White cake with strawberry buttercream filling. Rolled buttercream strips for basket. Vegetarian rice cripsy treats. Gumpaste signs. This cake is for my sister who loves krispy treats but doesn't eat gelatin (in marshmallows). Whole Foods Market sells the veg version of the treats. They sell them in a bushel basket.

That is great! I had to do a second look to see if it was really cake....and I still can't tell! Congrats!
Thanks! I would prefer a matte look but shine will have to do ;) I got the shine by painting the strips and cake with Wilton brown icing color with a little bit of water and almond extract. I did the same thing with my Thomas cake.

ive stared at it for 5 minutes and i am convinced that it is ceramic!!! straight into my favs! just wondering, what is rolled buttercream?
Rolled buttercream is crisco, corn syrup, conf sugar and flavors. It stays shiny but if you mix it fondant it will cut the shine and it's easier to work with. My sister smudged the sign because she went to pick it up thinking it wasn't real! Hurray!
