Christmas Candles
Just finished this for my office Christmas party. I've wanted to do one for a while and finally had a reason. It gave me problems from the start but overall I think I'm happy with how it turned out. The poinsettia and berries are gumpaste, pinecones are royal icing, and candles are cake with tea lights.
Your work is exquisite! Beautifucl centerpiece.
I think that nobody want to eat the candles! They look soooo real!!! Great job! :D

Absolutely beautiful!! Wonderful work!
This is the prettiest candle cake I have ever seen. It looks so real. You did a wonderful job!
Wow guys, thank you!! The candles are covered in fondant, then airbrushed red and painted with a layer of gold over that. I was really excited that everyone at the party kept asking where the cake was and they were standing right nex to it! To me that's the ulimate compliment that no one knew that they weren't real candles! Thanks again everyone!!
What color did you make your cake?
what an awesome cake and great idea! I think I want to try! I have a ton of tealights! :)
GI, the color looks a little weird in the photo, but it was actually airbrushed to a deep red color and then I painted a really thin layer of gold luster dust on with a wide flat-tipped paintbrush once the red was dry to give it color depth and a little texture.
Don't know what to say..except WOW
These are beautiful. I am doing a candle cake on sunday as a gift for a co worker. Yours turned out just beautiful.
I've seen a few "candle cakes" before, but nothing this nice. Excellent job! You've inspired me to give it a try.
