Cake for a customer who wanted a castle, but didn't have the budget for the castle cake I submitted to the CC Fairytale contest. Used the Wilton kit for towers & turrets. Rolling tops in chocolate took longer than I imagined. Wished the blue water didn't turn out so dark. Oh well. Thanks for looking!

Very nice, have you had any problems with the towers stay on the side or breaking the smaller layers?

Very nice, I love the way the water looks. Have you had any problems with the towers stay on the side or breaking the smaller layers?

abosutley adorable alternative for your customer! Did you find the wilton kit difficult to work with? Did you need to put holes in the towers too?

Sorry I missed these comments  ...the Wilton Kit is a bit difficult to work with, so I improvised with candy melts. The turrets retain water when you submerge them for cleaning. No trouble with breaking bottom layers, Suebee...maybe if they were closer to the edge of the cake it would cause a problem????? I didn't put any holes in the towers, but they need them...the concept is good for the kit, just not ideal working with.

I have the kit but I have the trouble of understanding how you do the turrets peak...do you just wrap that with fondant? how do you the the turrets?
