Snowflake Wedding Cake

Snowflake Wedding Cake on Cake Central

This was my second wedding cake, and I am just thrilled how it turned out! It is 3 tiers, 16"-12"-8", key lime cake with key lime filling, fudge brownie cake with Bailey's Irish Cream mousse, and white cake with chocolate hazelnut mousse, covered in IMBC. The snowflakes are RI with fondant pearls in the center and the pearls scattered randomly on the cake, which are dusted with pearl dust. I think the pearls made the cake! The photographer loved this shot so much he is using it for his portfolio.

O.K. I'm jealous. Wish I would have seen yours before I started the one I made. I like yours a little better. The real cake in mine was also keylime. It's hard not to compare them. Great job!!! :P

Thank you everybody! I had such a difficult time with making the snowflakes, but in the end, after three tries, they turned out finally. So many people here helped and I couldn't have done it without CC, truly.

Your snowflakes look perfect. I'm envious! Great job. Beautiful. Did you pipe them freehand or use a template? How far in advance did you let them sit?

For the snowflakes I did use a template--several I found searching on the internet. I made these just last week, several days before the wedding. My first two batches crumbled on me, so it was kind of stressful. Thankfully several people here on CC walked me through exactly what I needed to do to keep them strong. CC is a wonderful place!
