Recovery Cake
Member of a critique subgroup: I did this today for a recovery party- 8 years of being sober in AA. The book is the 'big book' of AA (marble choco and french vanilla) covered in fondant, as well as an 8 year chip and a cell phone. The cup, spoon and letters are also fondant. TFL!!! :)
Critique group member: What a great vinette. Love the hot cocoa! Book needs a title and the pages stick out further then the cover, but over all bokk is pretty good. Could use definition in the pages too. See my book for reference. Not sure if I like that purple board though......You need to pick up an alpha cutter for your wording. If you get tappits alpha, PM me for instruction.
Critique group member: Very nice! I love the hot cocoa and the book looks great although I would have liked to see more defination on pages they all sort of blend together. Also the cake board really bothers me it's just too big and too purple. I hope I don't seem harsh! :D

Critique group member: This looks well done. I am a little confused though...is just the book cake or is the mug cake too? the purple is just a board, right? The only critique I can offer is that the pages of the book seem to stick out a little farther than the book's cover. Hope I don't sound terribly nit-picky! :(
yes- the book and the cup of coffee are cake :) the purple is just a board- was in too much of a hurry and too thin on fondant to cover the board in anything else. And you don't sound nit-picky- I forgot to add the blue strip of fondant to the front side. Truthfully, I didn't think about it until you pointed it out, but I knew something was missing. :)
critique group member. I really like this cake you really pulled all the elements together. My only suggestion is to make the pages on the side a bit smaller than the cover. Also I think the handle on the cup could be a tad larger.Well Done!
critique subgroup member: great job, again I have to say you do great fondant work. I like the texture you added for the look of pages on the book. Like state earlier from others, the cover of the book should stick out farther than the pages. It also appears as thought the size of the writing for the word "happy" is larger/thicker than the "8" and "years" Nice presentation!!!!
Critique Group Member: That is sooo cool. The only other critque that I can offer is that the board seems a bit big. It makes the wordsing seem all alone. Overall it's great!
