In community album: Children's Birthday Cakes
Wizard of Oz cake for my daughters 5th birthday. Bottom is two layer, 8 x 2 inch round (chocolate). Top is two layer, 6 x 2 inch round (confetti). The Emerald City is made of pretzel rods covered in melted white chocolate chips and I added green food dye while melting. Attached Emerald City to the cake with popsicle sticks, although my chocolate was a little messy so I couldn't push it all the way in. Not a great photo...cell phone photo taken at hotel.

i like the overall concept but it missing something.. maybe a fondant figure of one of the characters etc. Too bad you were unable to push the top in all the way the gap is noticable.

I love the theme and look of the cake- how you made it into 3 tiers instead of making a flat with different pics. It's really hard to critique, more than anything because of the quality of the photo. You can notice the gap, but it's still a great presentation :)

I wish I could see it better because I bet it is really cool. However, I can't see enough details to make any critiques. Sorry.

Oh dear we need to find you a digital camera. Other then what our Critique group mentions, I think it appears awfully green and need something perhaps a border to break that up. I see lots of work went into this cake!

I like the concept too, but the sizing seems off to me. I do like the use of pretzel rods though for the emerald city, its something different and tastie

Oh I bet it was so very nice. I can just barely make out the yellow brick road and I've always enjoyed that movie

I forgot to mention...the idea of using chocolate covered pretzel rods came from stephaniescakenj...I can't take the credit for that one!

I agree about it needing figuires! In fact, I did have figuires...I just left them at home and my DD's party was an hour and a half away from home

Critique Group Member: I like how you incorporated a different theme with each tier. My critique would be to work on centering the tiers (unless of course you meant for them to be off-centered). Do you have a photo program that will allow you to lighten pictures? That will help to enhance cell phone pics.

Critique group member: It looks like a very nice design, but I wish I could see it better!
