Final For My Fondant And Gumpaste Class on Cake Central

I made this for our friends birthday dinner. This cake an almond pound cake recipe with hazelnut fudge filling and chopped almonds. The icing is almond flavored buttercream. It was fun to work with the fondant!

I used a mound of royal icing in the center and then tucked in the curly ribbons. It took some patience with the bow loops I lifted them up and tucked in wax paper until the icing set. :)

You did a great job (especially all your little cutouts). Terrific work on the cake board too - I can never get the fondant to look nice and clean like this. Thanks for sharing your photo.

I've never worked with fondant before. This is really cute! How do you get the loops to stay attached onto the top of the cake so they don't fall off?
