Christmas Penguin Campout

Christmas Penguin Campout on Cake Central

Using the photos on CC of these adorable penguins, I put my own spin on it and added a guitar player, bongo player, and some other cuties. I go to a women's campout right before Christmas and this is the perfect cake for the event! Thanks to everyone who made one of these and displayed them here for inspiration! TFL!!

very adorable! alot of attention paid to detail! It appears that there are some cake crumbs showing through the frosting which may have come from the dimension of the sledding track you cut into the cake. (I do like the added dimension) and tiptop stated, borders need a bit of work. Piping should be evenly spaced and each shell, bead, etc. should be evenly sized. Such a fun cake!

I think your figures are incredibly well done...I am assuming they are sculpted from MMF or something. I love the "powdered" snow effect. The border is the only part of this cake that needs any work. It looks a little uneven. This is a challenge for me too!

yet again great fondant modeling. I love the penguins. Only suggestion is to use a bit less "snow" it takes away from a few of your figures.

I really want to do a penguin cake now. I love the whole scene you created, it comes to life. I agree with there is a bit too much snow, but it is still really cool. The border not being perfect is actually kinda natural to me because I looked at it like snowballs, and snowballs aren't usually perfectly uniform

I'm not a fan of lotsa little stuff on cakes. But your overall composition is well thought out and the use of space is good. Again your modeling is perfect. You need to practice piping like me cuz that border needs help, I started fondant first also and am woking on piping skills. You could have left it off. For this type of cake well done.

Critique Group Member: That is absolutely darling. It makes me want to go play Nintendo. It's like a scene on the game  My only critique has already been mentioned and that's the border. But my goodness the awesomeness of the cake overrules the border.
