Ornament Cake

I did this for the Georgia ICES day of sharing. This won third place for cakes! Idea for the ornament cake shape from the book "The Ultimate Book of Christmas Cakes" by Anne Smith. The Madonna and Child is based on the Nativity window at St. John's Catholic Chapel at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. This piece is dedicated to my Mom & Dad, in thanks for all that they have done for me throughout my life, and especially in supporting me as I pursue sugar art knowledge!

O.K. Don't hit return, if you're not done typing!!! slopokegirl- I made this out of a styrofoam dummy. It's covered with fondant and gumpaste, and then I handpainted Jesus and Our Lady. Thanks for the fave and the vote, Ambjer and OnceUponaCupcake!!!
