Candles

Candles on Cake Central

These are some candle cakes i made for a candle party i was going to. I baked them in cans then iced with some BC and wrapped with white chocolate. The melted wax is sugar glaze(thanks to renuka for the recipe). And the "rocks" are jelly bellys.

for the wicks i was going to use black string licorice...but i couldnt find any. So i just lit a candle & blew it out (so you would see black) and then pushed the candle far down into the cake so just the wick showed.

these are great . . . you could actually leave the candles useable if you didn't push them right down into the cake (that might be nice too) . . . how did you wrap them in white chocolate? and is renuka's recipe posted here? once again . . . beautiful job . . . love it ;-D

the candles were actually still usable i lit them at the party for a few minutes. And i found a sugar glaze recipe on cc but it wasnt the same as renukas. I will PM it to you and explain the choc. wrap too.

Very cool. They look like real candles! If I had seen these on a table I would have thought them a centerpiece! Nice work!

it was a box cake mix so i just did what the box said which was 325º and just kept checking on them until they looked done.

Melissa, these look wonderful! Soo realistic! Doing them in cans how far do you fill them? I'd love to know how to do this too! Wow!
