... I'm still working on getting the Topsy-Turvy thing down. I refuse to give up! Lol. We had a carnival theme for my daughter's party.

Gorgeous! It's so colorful, and I love the "big top" look of the bottom layer. It's all so cheerful you can't help but smile as you look at it. Fantastic job! She's one lucky little girl!

Fantastic cake! When I first saw it in the thumbnail I thought it was a "Rolie Polie Olie." That's a kids cartoon from a few years back. My daughter would have loved this cake at 3. Again, great job!!!!

Oh my gosh Macsmon! I love it! I think you have the topsy-turvy thing down . How tall is the top cake ? I love the height and all the scroll work. :)

The top tier is about 6" on the short side and 8" on the tall side. I alternated layers of chocolate cake and peanut butter cake and I almost took off one layer because of the height, but I liked the look so I placed a cake round in the middle of if it for support. I used the method described in the tutorial here, but I keep having problems with the cake dam left after cutting out the hole - by the time I cut the cake the tall edge of the bottom tier had sagged tremendously! I just did a TT... (cont.)

Last night I tried Lindy Smith's method (modified) of simply stacking the cakes like a normal tiered cake, and it works just fine! I stuck sharpened dowels (both ends) all the way through the foam core base leaving about 2" poking through the top of the bottom tier. Then I just basically dropped the top tier over the dowels so the force would drive the dowels through the cardboard an--presto!--a stable top tier! Next time I will be sure to hold the top tier at an angle before plopping and use less fo...

Still working on it??? I think you're there!!! I only hope I can eventually get a tt cake to look as good at yours!! Let's see, everything I love about your cake... the colors and how you seperated and outlined them, the heighth and the shapes of the tiers, the adorable elephant with the ring on his nose... I could go on, but I'll save it into my fav's for inspiration next time :) Great cake!!
