Fall Flowers

Fall Flowers on Cake Central

This is a 2 layer, 6 inch round. Applesauce Spice cake (DH) with french vanilla flavored bc. Made for hubby to take to work. Still need to practice getting my bc smooth, but I'm getting better....I'll get there!! Drop star flowers in fall colors.

:) Wow! Very nice...I love the thickness of the flower border - it's loaded with vibrant color! Very nicely done...

flowers are very pretty and love the colors, but I think with fall colored flowers, the leaves should be a mossier green color. The color of your plate compliments the cake colors

I love this cake because of the wonderful display of colors!! Yeah- the BC could be smoother, but your flowers and single dots throughout more than make up for the slight imperfections in the BC. :)

Beautiful! Just Beautiful. Ok, we agree about the technique on the bc, but your showing promise. Try using a larger spatuala and keeping it straight and turn the cake on a turntable or lazy susan as oppose to moving the spatula.

Very nice set up. I watched the Sugarshack BC video and think its the best thing that happened to my buttercream (my last two cakes were made using the method and, although not perfect, the BC looks much better than previous cakes.

Very nice boarders! Your drop flowers appear to be perfect....what recipe do you use for your BC? If Crisco, try the Melvira method it really works. If IMBC use a bench knife.

Critique Group Member: I agree with our other members on smoothing the sides a bit more. The bench scraper works great for that.
