Painting On Rolled Buttercream
I made this cake for a friend's daughter for her baby shower. The panels on the six sides of the cake are plaques of rolled buttercream painted with food colors mixed with vanilla extract. The top is painted directly on regular buttercream. The pattern is based on the bedding she has for the nursery, Baby Sunshine.
so cute great job
I love this..it looks like watercolours...gorgeous for a baby!!!..she's going to love this! ;-D
What a beautiful cake ~ I really like the thin black accent line around all the designs! Great job :)
Very sweet - great job on this. Love it!
this is gorgeous- can you explain the process of rolled buttercream painting?
I rolled out the rolled buttercream and cut squares out and let air dry for a couple hours. I transfered the image onto it with a tracing wheel (or pinprick method). I mixed a very small amount of each gel/paste food color in about a half tsp of clear vanilla extract. Then with a light touch and various size paint brushes, I painted the colors on. I let these air dry a couple days so I could pick them up without distorting.
Very unique and way cute.
This is sooooooooo adorable! I love it!
