3-tier BC iced wedding cake with funky fondant accents to match wedding colors, and gumpaste butterflies. This is a knockoff of a cake the bride saw in a magazine. The cake tiers themselves are half cake, half cheesecake, which was waaaaay easier than I thought it would be. Heavy as all get-out though! I think it's my favorite cake so far. And I got to use my extruder for the first time! YAY! Thanks for looking!
what a beautiful cake. I love the colors and the butterflies. Its just awesome
beautiful!!!!!
I love the design. So beautiful.
Very nice! How'd you end up doing 1/2 cake 1/2 cheesecake?
Beautiful cake! I like the soft colors.
I think it looks perfect. And the colors are just perfect!!! Love the ivory/yellow and the purple....just a all around great cake!!! Going into my favs (gotta love the perfect butterflies also!)
Thank you for your kind comments, marchbaby to answer the question - I baked the cheesecakes in the regular cake pans and chilled them until they were firm. Then used them as the bottom layer for the 2-layer tiers, with BC in between to stick them together. I can see doing a lot more of these....it was easy and good money too ;-D
did you use the regular graham cracker crust and stuff with it? I thought of doing a cake this way with regular cheese cake and chocolate cake for my FIL's birthday, but wasn't sure how I was going to swing it. I've done a lot of regular cakes and a lot of cheesecakes, but never a combination of the two. I guess maybe if I did it with a chocolate crust? Your cake is very pretty. Simple, yet elegant.
Yes - basic graham cracker crust. To eliminate a crumb problem, I didn't push the graham up the sides like I normally do, it was just the flat bottom. Worked great!
