Gingerbread Blocks
This first birthday cake is actually gingerbread stuck together in the manner of a 'Gingerbread house'. The icing is fondant and its bumpyness shows my lack of training I'm afraid! But it was fun and very few of the guests actually realised it was a cake until we started tearing it up and serving it.
Thanks for the kind comms! The whole stack looked like it might topple in early construction before the icing dried, and in the end it was leaning noticeably. I guess you must have gotten some great reactions when your guests realised those bouquets were made out of cupcakes! Those are amazing. Love your baseball cake too. Just look at the work in that! :o
I love it when I get that kind of reaction on my cakes. It's fun to watch the guests faces when they find out it's not just a centerpiece! This is very cute and unique. I like how you stacked the blocks instead of putting them next to each other - clever! nicely done. ;-D
