Diego's 1St Birthday

Diego's 1St Birthday on Cake Central

This is an adaptation of Wilton's Amazing Amazon cake. Cake is a peaches and cream cake with vanilla bc filling and icing. Animals and leaves are fondant. Grass is bc. The animals were a bit of a pain to make but it was my first time making any type of figures and I'm happy with how they turned out. I'll post a pic of all the animals. The surface of each tier looks wavy in the photos but did not in person. I don't know why that happens.

really nice work. the animals turned out beautifully for your first time. did you dowel through them or is there a centre support i can't see?

Wow! You guys are fast! Thank you and the animals' bodies and heads use the ball and pillar sets from Wilton. You use the two inch globes for the bodies and the 2.5 inch globes for the heads. The pillars then just slide through. There is no center support needed.

joby1, I don't know what yearbook it's in but I got it on Wilton's website. Just do a search for Amazing Amazon. Thanks everyone for your kind comments.

imartsy, the recipe is from The Cake Mix Doctor (not the chocolate one). I don't know if it's copyrighted and okay to post. Personally, I don't think it's all that great but the mom who ordered the cake loves it. At the party, people asked me for business cards and said they loved the cake so I guess it could be just me that doesn't think it's a big deal.

I'm not sure which book it's in but if you go to the Wilton website, you can find it listed alongwith the instructions. It's called Amazing Amazon.
