My First Wedding Cake

My First Wedding Cake on Cake Central

This cake survived a white chocolate recall, necessitiating me to throw out two tiers that I had already baked. After that, it was Murphey's Law and whatever could go wrong, did. But in the end, I am happy with the results and soooooooo relieved that it's over.

Very, Very nice....Is it fondant or is it b/c?. Also, how did you do the lettering? Its very nice too ..

SLB1956, it's fondant. I wish I could get buttercream this smooth. The lettering was done with calligraphy molds that I purchased from Country Kitchen. This link should take you directly to the page: (...)

critique group member: It's a pretty cake. I am sorry it gave you fits. My only critiuques would be that the small beaded borders are inconsistent

critique group member: It's a pretty cake. I am sorry it gave you fits. My only critiuques would be that the small beaded borders are inconsistent...some touch the base or other cake and some don't leaving small gaps. Also, the top tier looks a tiny bit slanted. That could just be the angle of the picture. I love the design on the bottom layer and the pearls on the middle layer are placed perfectly. The stand is beautiful and complimentary as well. I would have been proud to have this cake at my wedding.

Critique subgroup member: Just beautiful! The cake plateau is exquisite!!! The detail on the base tier is beautiful. The only thing I would suggest it to place a small plain tube snail trail shell border at the base of the tiers instead of individual dots. Other than that, you recovered perfectly!!!!!

critique group member: the details you have in the layers are jaw dropping. I love the initials on the top layer and besides the border on the bottom of the tiers that the others mentioned you did an amazing job, especially for all of the issues you hadn't if you hadn't mentioned them I would have thought that everything went perfectly

Critique group member: Gorgeous cake. Can't believe all the troubles you had...can't tell with the final product. My only thoughts are that the small bead borders are not completely consistant. I also wonder if the top tier has a slight tilt, or is it the angle of the picture?! Overall, the cake is very nice.

critique subgroup member: Very beautiful cake!! the detail is exquisite. to me the middle tier looks as though it is narrower at the bottom than the top, giving a wee bit of a topsy turvy look. I have to agree with the others on the bead border. Also watch the placement of the cake on the cake stand as it is not centered

Critique subgroup member: Very lovely wedding cake and I would have loved it at my wedding. Watch you placement on the cake boardt. measure with a ruler all the way around to give siame spacing. I agree with group on the beads, snails trail or dragging pearls would have been better. Plaque is very well done. What size is the middle? _Wilton 9" cause it tapers in and only a Wilton 9" pan does that.....Very lovely cake.
