Seashell Cake

Seashell Cake on Cake Central

This is for my father's birthday (he wrote a textbook on seashells, though not this variety!). It's copied from Colette Peters' "Colette's Cakes" and I think it turned out pretty well. The cake is a simple yellow cake with buttercream and MMF, hand painted with gel colors and vodka.

It's a pan, and I deepened the lines with the handle of the paintbrush. Oh, and I filled in the center with buttercream under the fondant to hide where it underbaked and sank! Thanks for the kind praise, all!

What a fabulous job you did. I am a huge Collette Peters fan and this is as beautiful as hers.

WOW-this is absolutely georgous. It is so real looking-and you did an amazing job on the colors fading in and out. Wonderful work.
