Well, I finished my first wedding cake. I don't know how you guys do it all the time. Now I remember why I love cookies so much. I also attended the wedding. I spent the whole time making sure it was still standing.
thanks for the wonderful words. just hours before the wedding, my youngest was watching me put a few touches on the top layer. she ended up falling into the cake. i thought i was going to die!!!. the sage green ribbon buckled overnight, and it was soaked with buttercream. i don't know if it's just supposed to do that or i did something wrong.
Great Job! I made my first cake for a baby shower last month, and they wanted 4 baby blocks. I learned a lot from that expierence. Althought the cakes came out great, tasted great, and the customer was extremely happy, even paid me extra. I stood in front of the mirror and repeated 50 times "Don't do another cake order". It was too stressful.
I think its beautiful! I set up my first wedding cake (for a friend) after the ceremony and then went for a bite to eat before supper. I was so nervous it was going to topple while I was gone! As for the ribbon - if it is real satin ribbon I read that you can back it with wax paper (using two sided tape) to keep it from absoring moisture.
that is very pretty :) great job for your first cake! my first wedding cake had fresh fruit that leaked all over the sides! thank goodness the venue was dimly lit! GREAT job :)
