this was a 6, 10 and 14 inch rounds carved and used SFS. iced in buttercream and fondant accents, 22ga wire with fondant dots and tylose added fondant bow.
This cake is absolutely fabulous. I want to make a whimsical cake for my husband's birthday next month, but don't know how. Can you provide instructions - is it o.k to cut a round cake at an angle, cover with fondant and stack with internal rods as if it were a normal round two/three tier cake ?
Love your color combo. Tell me are the brown/green/ blue vertical pieces are they just randomly cut pieces of fondant in the picture they look flushed to the white is it because u rolled it really thin?
thanks again ya'll, beginner..the colored pieces are fondant that I rolle pretty darn thin, look at the right side you can see the green piece and it shows thickness. I had a drawing that I made for the customer and kinda went by that,
Your cake is incredible! I have a last minute cake for this weekend and the lady wants it crooked. I am doing the same three size tiers that you did here. How did you assemble the cake--like the How to Article on CC? Did you assemble on site or drive it there already stacked? I would really appreciate any tips and advice! thanks
thanks for the wonderful comments, i typically do several cakes in one wkend, this one was one of 4 so say from friday morning till fri night but not completely on this one the whoel time, sorry best answer i can give, perhaps maybe 6 hours?
no not difficult, just gotta pay attention to your centers, make sure its lined up right, i am not too risk takin on my slants and i never carve the bottoms.
thanks for the comments, each cake tier is 3 layers of cake, so the highest sides are 6 inches at least.i dont remember what i carved down to, make 3 inches or so.
