This is a great cake! Are those pretzels for the tree trunks?

Yes, braided pretzels for the tree trunks, royal icing palm leaves, fondant coconuts and blue top. Everything else was cream cheese frosting. Underneath all of that is a Hummingbird Cake, which I think is my favorite. Don't worry -- no hummingbirds were injured during the making of this cake : )

Did you pipe fresh royal icing for the palm leaves or make them in advance and dry them? And what is a hummingbird cake? :lol:

I did pipe the palm leaves ahead of time and dried them on an upside down flower former. You can find a hummingbird recipe on this site. I call it a "dressed up" banana nut bread/cake. It has bananas, pineapple, nuts, and I like to add coconut. Yummy.
