Mmf Polka Dots

Mmf Polka Dots on Cake Central

This is the very first MMF (or ANY type of fondant, for that matter) cake. I am still working on improving my skills. If anyone has any advice, let me know. I made this one 2 years ago at age 12, so don't laugh. However, I do want criticism. Thanks!

I am impressed. You were 12 when you made that?!? Wow - only thing I can say is maybe not roll it out so thin. Thinker fondant may cover up more uneven cake levels. Looks good!

Thank you for the comments! Kpargola, I appreciate your advice on the fondant, I will roll it thicker next time! What is a good "standard" thickness? I thought it was 1/8"?

Sweetie you won't get any criticism from me - I don't know any 12 year olds who can make a cake like that! I can only imagine what your cakes will look like by the time you're 20! Good for you!

Gorgeous, and I love the cutaway view showing the different colored layers. I'd only add: more icing between the layers, but that's just because I love filling ;).

You have a natural talant I must say!! Wow! You should really be proud of your self! Can't find a thing wrong with this cake but I do agree about maybe doing a thicker fondant and adding more filling. I think you did a wonderful job!! I like how you did the different layers of cake flavors, I am going to try that myself now! Keep up the good work! :D

I couldn't have done that at the age of 12. I'm 27 and I've just learned how to use fondant. I'm very proud of you:)
