Used Missyek's wonderful pattern for this tiara!! Definitely not perfect, but I am pleased with it. It is all gumpaste then painted with pink, purple, and silver luster dust.
Thanks so much!!! For the glue I used some gumpaste mix dissolved in water (probably 1 part gumpaste to 5 parts water). I set it in the fridge overnight and then stirred it again before using, It worked great for me, definitely seems "well stuck". :)
looks great I have only made a iarra out of royal icing but my next cake order has to be all dairy/egg free and i have never worked with gumpaste before how does it work do you roll it like fondant
Great job on the tiara! Do you have the pattern that you would be willing to share. if so my email is [email protected] thankyou and I hope you do well at the fair. It looks perfect
Glad you like it! olberg - I had never worked with gumpaste before either. I used the Wilton mix. Then I used a clay extruder (cheap one from Michaels) to make the ropes. It was basically easy to work with but it does dry MUCH faster than fondant so I would only extrude enough for one squiggle, then I'd get that placed, then I would extrude for the next squiggle. Otherwise it dried out too quickly for me to work with. HTH!! :)
Missparker - sorry I missed your question earlier! I made this over a couple of days last week. I used a lot of gumpaste glue on it and it has not fallen apart at all (and feels quite strong, though I am careful with it, of course). I also used the Wilton gumpaste mix. Not sure why yours fell apart :( I hope it works better for you next time.
Olberg - definitely build it on a round container while working on it. The gumpaste dries very quickly, so if you were to build it flat and then try to wrap it around a container to curve it, I feel certain it would crack and break a lot.
I'm so glad that I was able to inpire you! You did a fantastic tiara!! And the color combo is perfect!! Give yourself a big pat on the back for this one! AWESOME!! ;-D
Very pretty!
how many days did you let it dry? mine fell apart, but i only dried it 2 days.

Fabulous! Really, really, well done!
Excellent job.
What did you use to glue the thing together. I want to make one out of gumpaste, but I wasn't sure if just water would do it.

one more ? do you but this on a round container like you do a royal icing tiarra or do you just shape as you work
