hi iowa, they are cookies, but, here's a tip: to get that sharp edge that exposes the "cake" look (cookies dome when they cook and have a tapered edge), I hit them with a cookie cutter again when they are HOT out of the oven. the same size you use prebaking takes the edge off nicely!

oh! use the scraps with ice cream!
