Back To School Backpack

This cake was made for the faculty and administration at the school where I used to work. The straps, zipper pulls, and school supplies are made with fondant (my first time using fondant).

Adorable! What size cakes did you use?Is the notebook something covered in fondant or just fondant?

Kateyk - I catullay cut a "slice" in the top of the cake so that I could stick the notebook inside of it.

bailey - It's been a long time, but I think I cut up and stacked a few rectangular cakes... it was 5 layers tall, so I probably used 11x13 pans (?) and cut 3 of them in half, then used the exta piece for the pocket in front.
