Fondant/gumpaste Final - Lilac

Fondant/gumpaste Final - Lilac on Cake Central

This is my final cake for the Fondant and Gumpaste course. I wasn't fond of much of anything in the book so we all kind of went our own directions on our last cakes. The only thing you can't see is that the drape is marbled like the board, not the same color as the cake. Lilac is totally gumpaste, everything else covered in fondant. Comments and constructive criticism are always welcomed!

Looks more like a hyacinth (such large blossoms) but I really love your overall originality. I'm looking for ideas for when my own final cake comes around.

Wow beautiful cake - especially for a class cake! I love the board and the cake is so smooth, and the border is great... your flower is wonderful!

I think you did a wonderful job! The only thing I would have done (not that I could even have made a cake this nice anyway! LOL) is made the flower & stem just a tiny bit smaller. Great job!! :D

I think you did a great job! Love the colour of green that you used too. My only critisicm would be that the stem looks like it's at a bit of a weird angle, but that's probably just me! Very nice work!

rozdei - Thank you so much! I used the Wilton Juniper Green for everything on the cake. And yes, everything on the flower, even the "ribbon" is gumpaste. :)

Your flowers are beautiful and it looks like a real bridal bouquet that has been laid on a cake. You did a great job. What color green did you use? I'm taking the F&G class Jan '08. Would love to try this...
